El Arte de Reírte

When we laugh, the body releases chemicals such as serotonin and endorphins — neurotransmitters that bring a feeling of wellbeing, calm and happiness. The effect is similar to falling in love: pain-relieving, and deeply relaxing for the human nervous system.

The best part is that the body cannot tell forced or simulated laughter from the natural kind. So we begin by provoking laughter and smiles, and little by little the natural laughter lets itself out. It matters, too, that by giving this time and space to laughing, it becomes much easier to relax and allow ourselves to laugh.

Through breathing exercises, games, releasing tension, laughter techniques, getting to know your own laugh, songs, and reconnecting with childhood, play, freedom and harmony, both your mood and your patterns of negative thinking are transformed. We laugh until we’ve had our fill, every day.

Laughter is one of the finest natural therapies in the world for mental and physical benefits shaped by our emotions. It is a wonderful therapy for illnesses brought on by stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia, or by a person’s own inner negativity. Practising risAlegRía regularly brings a whole range of benefits to everyday life:

  • Improves blood and arterial circulation and, as a result, benefits the health of the heart and the heart rate.
  • Prevents depression and helps you hold a positive attitude towards whatever circumstances and problems each day brings.
  • Because what matters is not what happens, but what we do with what happens to us. These techniques help us handle difficult circumstances positively.
  • RisAlegRía helps you see life more brightly.
  • Relieves anguish and stress. It releases that heavy energy, helps you unburden yourself and settle.
  • Regulates the heart rate, and helps the digestive system work properly.
  • Helps burn calories: when we laugh we move around 400 muscles.
  • The sense of wellbeing and self-esteem after a RisAlegRía session helps you fall asleep, rest deeply, and wake up feeling you have slept right through.

Recommended: one session a week.
Warning — it may be addictive. The good news is that we teach you everything you need to keep practising at your own pace!

Laughter is contagious: when you laugh you draw a smile or a laugh back, and anyone watching may laugh too, which in turn makes them want to laugh more. So laughter travels from person to person, waiting for its moment to go out and spread good vibrations, opening minds and gladdening hearts.
